3 of 12 cycles and starting to understand the new normal!
Final Thoughts
- Starting to understand the new normal vs. anomalies.
- Extra fluids on Wednesday & Friday made all of the difference- no nausea and/or fatigue.
- Bloody nose Saturday and Monday
- My biggest note for myself is setting priorities and sticking to them. Listening to what I need and being ok with it!
Blessed to have my brother Nick with me today! I am glad he had the opportunity to see what is involved in my infusions. As adults we don’t often get time to just hang out- more times than not, we are chasing the kids or refereeing their wrestling matches! He did put a request in for extra fluids himself while he was there- and the nurses got a kick out of that! He has a way of just lightening the mood no matter where he is!
Nick has been able to have some of the tough conversations with me that otherwise I would have put off. If there is someone able to push me, I’m glad its him! He gives me the pushes I need and isn’t afraid to talk through things. Him and Sarah have taken the burden of planning and organizing rides, some meals and the Go Fund Me that I otherwise would have avoided. These efforts and pushes do not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Outside of the normal sibling combativeness, Nick has always been one of the best people I know! I look forward to when I am able to repay them tenfold.
I am beginning to understand how my body is reacting to certain aspects of this process and what “the work” looks like for me. The tri-health community that I have seen to this point has been nothing short of genuine and caring. I truly do feel confident in the plan and the team in place.
As we head into this Fourth of July weekend, I am doing everything in my power to normalize things for the kids and to be present! What does this look like to me? I am going to add extra liquid into my routine and plan in rest time. We are also blessed to have time scheduled with friends and family throughout the next couple of days to build core memories!
Also, a huge thank you to my Aunt Alina who sewed me in zippers for my treatment attire. In true fashion, I have opted to wear Gorilla Swag to my infusions and now I can be on brand and comfortable at the same time!
